Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What type of used products can I sell on Amazon?
You can sell used products in most categories, including consumer electronics, books, DVDs, CDs, video games and general merchandise. However, certain categories such as beauty, food and grocery, health and supplements cannot be sold second hand.
Are there additional costs for selling used products?
No. You'll only pay Amazon's standard selling fees (which vary from 7% to 15% depending on the product category). There are no additional costs for selling used products.
How do I determine the condition of my used products?
Amazon has four possible conditions for used products:
  • Like New: Item in perfect working order but the packaging may have some damage. The item is fully functional and all the essential accessories are complete.
  • Very Good: An item in very good condition that may have been used to a limited extent and is fully functional. The item may have minor cosmetic imperfections. The item may arrive with damaged packaging or have been repackaged, and some non-essential accessories may be missing. The missing accessories are shown in the item description.
  • Good: An item in good condition that may show slight signs of wear and is fully functional. The item may arrive with damaged packaging or have been repackaged. It may have minor cosmetic damage, such as a small scratch. The item may be missing some valuable accessories and cannot be used until those accessories are purchased separately. The missing accessories are shown in the item description.
  • Acceptable: The item may show clear signs of use but still fulfil its main function. The item may arrive with damaged packaging or have been repackaged. The item may have cosmetic damage or show other signs of previous use. Signs of wear may include scratches, dents, and worn corners or edges. The item may be missing some valuable accessories, components or replacement parts and cannot be used until those components are purchased separately. The missing parts are shown in the description of the individual item.
Each listing must accurately reflect the actual condition of the product.
How do I set the price of my used products?
You have full control over the pricing of your used products. However, the prices of used products should be competitive and lower than the prices of new products, with prices that generally reflect the condition ("Like New" commands higher prices than "Acceptable").
Are there advertising options available for used products?
Traditional advertising campaigns are currently not available for used products on Amazon, but you can still use advertising tools such as percentage-off promotions and two-for-one offers.
How can I protect myself from returns and negative reviews?
The key is transparency in your listing. Provide detailed descriptions of the condition and clear photos showing any signs of wear or imperfections. This sets accurate expectations for customers and reduces the likelihood of returns and negative reviews.
